Nanita
About This Spot
Stepping into Nanita feels like finding a quiet refuge tucked into the charming barrio of Jalatlaco. The gentle hum of the neighborhood blends effortlessly with warm natural light and thoughtfully simple décor, setting a pace that invites you to slow down and savor the moment. It’s the kind of place where the rhythm isn’t rushed — where the day unfolds with an easy grace, and every visit feels like coming home to a familiar, comforting space.
Though Nanita is firmly rooted in the vibrant tradition of Oaxaca, it brings a fresh, creative spirit to vegan dining that feels both personal and carefully considered. The kitchen crafts its dishes with an evident respect for ingredients and seasonal rhythms, inviting diners to explore familiar flavors reimagined in wholly satisfying ways. Here, the food doesn’t just fill the plate; it tells stories through layers of texture and unexpected combinations that linger long after the meal ends.
The atmosphere at Nanita draws in a diverse crowd — longtime locals alongside curious travelers searching for a meaningful, mindful meal. The owners are deeply present, fostering an intimate, welcoming environment where everyone is encouraged to connect not only with the food but with each other. This sense of genuine hospitality is felt in every corner, from the carefully poured hibiscus limeades to the shared smiles over morning burritos and plant-based pozoles.
Whether you settle in for a lazy brunch or an early dinner, Nanita feels less like a restaurant and more like a shared table where stories unfold as naturally as the unfolding of a well-told recipe. It’s a quiet celebration of thoughtful cooking that honors both the land and the people who gather around it.

This is a really delicious vegan restaurant! The menu is small but the dishes are really creative and yummy. It taste like it's all made from scratch too. I ate the Chilaquiles, the loaded potatoes with Chorizo and the marigold horchata. Honestly my favorite was the potatos! So much flavor. The little ginger cookie was yummy too for dessert. I highly recommend this place!

Literally obsessed with this vegan food! Honestly, my favorite food in all of Oaxaca. The owners are so great and have created the best, comfortable, intimate dining experience. A must for veggies and omnivores alike!

My boyfriend and I were in Oaxaca City for a week and had one of our first meals here. We were blown away by the quality and the amazing flavors of everything we tried at Nanita! We arrived very hungry after walking around the city all morning and had the pozole, chilaquiles, and split a power bowl. The drinks were also spot on. I had a cold brew and my boyfriend had the hibiscus limeade. Both amazing! The restaurant is also very charming with inviting decor and a peaceful atmosphere. It’s situated on a very pleasant and quiet street. After lunch, we took two cookies to go and wandered around the streets of Jalatlaco to see all the beautiful buildings, murals, and the church. I have recommended this restaurant to friends coming into Oaxaca this week, and will definitely be back on our next trip!

My girlfriend is vegan, but she was yearning for chilaquiles - so we popped in to Nanita for breakfast/brunch on the final day of our stay in Oaxaca, and we were not disappointed. This is absolutely delicious vegan food with no compromises on flavour - I genuinely had the best burrito I’ve ever tasted (vegan or otherwise) and my gf cleaned up her loaded chilaquiles in record time. The service was great - friendly, helpful, super welcoming - and the vibe was laid back and cool. Whether you’re vegan or not, hit Nanita up! I wish there was more places this good back in the UK

Nanita is one of the best vegan restaurants in Oaxaca; hands down! I’ve been in the city for a month and have tried literally everything on the menu, and it’s all amazing. Every dish is made with so much love and care. The owners, Eduardo and Drew (both long-time vegans), are two of the kindest, most genuine people you’ll meet, and it’s clear how much they love what they do. They’ve poured their hearts into this place. They even designed the space themselves, and it’s absolutely beautiful; warm, colorful, and full of character. The food, the vibe, the energy- everything about this place just feels good. No matter your dietary lifestyle or needs, don’t miss this spot. It’s an absolute gem!

The vegan burrito here is life changing, run don’t walk! All the food here is absolutely delicious, so much love, care and attention to detail has gone into the creation of all the food and it shows. The owners are wonderful and welcomed my vegan travel group more than once, I think we visited at least ten times! Definitely visit if your in Oaxaca and go and support this great vegan business

I was recently in Oaxaca and I’m so glad I found Nanita’s!! I went there 4x and everything, every time was delicious! Their burrito was so full of flavors and Eduardo and Drew (the owner/chef) took into account my non negotiable must not eat foods and made an amazing off menu alternative cheese for my meal. Also made some amazing off menu avocado crème! Their Mac and cheese and roasted potatoes with toppings was divine!! Our group ate there a couple times and everything everyone tried was delicious!! I even brought some of their yummy sunflower butter cookies home on the plane!! Wish they were in my area so I could frequent them often!!!

Such a gem for vegetarians. This place is tucked in a quiet lane and everything they have is made in-house, including the hot sauce! It’s really difficult to decide what to get. I tried the loaded potatoes, which were crunchy and baked really well. The beans and cheese combination worked really well! I would definitely recommend it.
